Named after the character in the Scottish children’s book, “Wind in the Willows,” Rat’s Restaurant lies within the 42-acre Grounds for Sculpture. French impressionist Claude Monet inspired the architecture and interiors of the restaurant. In fact, the patio where patrons can opt to dine al fresco fronts a lily pond with an arched bridge that recalls Monet’s celebrated painting, “Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge.”
Along with all the literary and painterly references, the food is just as sublime. Rat’s serves classic French fare like coq au vin, vegan entrees such as cauliflower steak, and selections that change with the season.
