New Jersey Golf Courses Worth Visiting

Golf

If you’re planning a fun weekend for adults, you’ve come to the right place. New Jersey is home to stunning golf courses and other avid golfers who share your passion for the sport.

Here are some of the best golf course courses to check out in and around Monmouth County, NJ.

Colts Neck Golf Club

The Mark A. Mungeam-designed, 18-hole Colts Neck golf course has a rustic quality that urbanites will truly appreciate. Located on the site of a farm, the property still retains some of its original features, including a silo behind the massive clubhouse. The course itself is ideal for recreational golfers who want to enjoy an exhilarating match on manicured greens.

The club’s extensive facilities include a well-stocked pro shop, an on-site casual dining restaurant called the Pegasus Grille, and a seasonal fine dining restaurant and private function room called the Pegasus Terrace.

The club lets you host golf outings with a practice range and digital GPS caddies available for your party.

Hominy Hill Golf Course

Designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones in 1964, the course is situated on a former dairy farm and retains much of the property’s pastoral charm. Hominy Hill is famed throughout NJ for its challenging layout and strategically placed bunkers despite being open, walkable, and free of extreme elevations.

Highlights include gorgeous seasonal wildflowers in out-of-play areas and a small, placid lake to the left of the 11th hole.

Other course facilities include a golf center, warm-up range, locker rooms with clean and well-maintained showers, putting greens, snack bar, and GHIN handicapping.

Pinebrook Golf Course

This stunning par 61, 18-hole executive-length golf course makes up for its relatively modest size with a challenging layout and a full stocked pro shop and snack bar. Surrounded by mature trees and native grass, it’s one of the most picturesque golf courses in Monmouth County, NJ and invites golfers to stop and enjoy the scenery every few holes.

Charleston Springs Golf Course

Also designed by Mark A. Mungeam, Charleston Springs offers a North and South course.

  • The par 72 links style North Course features wide, undulating fairways with wildflowers and native grass. Golfers are in for a challenge with several water hazards and extensive bunkering.
  • The par 72 parkland style South Course makes excellent use of the area’s natural features and existing terrain to frame each with native grass and sporadic trees.

The warm-up range features target greens and grass tees as well as an impeccably maintained half-acre practice putting green with eight target cups. Other course amenities include a golf center, snack bar, and locker rooms with showers.
